architectural comercial thriller

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

foster-hermitage-plaza Sir Norman F. & his crew just released a new presentation of some Parisian commercial high rise housing called Hermitage Plaza. This is not such a big surprise for me while they do this stuff quite a lot :) .

What really switched me to the gosh mode was the movie they attached.  F&P’s brought a completely new quality I have never spotted in architectural animation (not sure if I can still call this animation and keep pretending my sanity :) ). I am quite curious to see what will come in ten years… … and of course, who will bring it.

nice kid bike

minimalissimo-glodos-bit-00a-400x385 There is nothing to be added here – this toy seems just great.
And I feel quite competent to say as we have already received two different bikes for our little dragon and both are such a crappy stuff.
If only these nice things made for human beings and looking out like that were more reasonably priced and widely accesible. I somehow cannot imagine my mother in law buying this from some design company based in spain :)

say drum!

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Not that fresh release though keeping my musical part of mind alive for a while now. Interested? :) Check the London Elektricity – Attack Ships On Fire (listen on youtube or/& buy on hospital records).

While mentioning Hospital Records label I find it necessary to share another of my favourites from their stall – KJ Sawka. Unimaginable d’n'b live performing US based drummer. First time I’ve spotted him on youtube completely fascinated by his technique. say-drum I was way of surprised realizing he also recorded a complex sample set for loopmasters (check the viral promo video here on vimeo).

And of course an irrelevant necessity – the related picture ;o]

The Dovecote Studio, Snape Maltings, Suffolk

dovecotsudio_2 The minimalistic cor-ten monocoque precisely fit into existing victorian ruin structure. Plain plywood cladding inside. Beautiful, huh? :)

The project is shortlisted in The Architects Journal Small Projects Awards 2010.

This reminds me in a very nice way the tough discussion we had with my wife on one of the adaptation concepts of our house. We finally picked much more conservative approach. Now Klára surprised me quite a lot while she likes this Dovecot Studio project. We have got still a portion of our house to be solved. So who knows what is going to come out of this :)
